OUR FAVORITE BEACH DAY TRIP

Above is the path we take to get to our favorite spot on Sanibel Island.
Below is what is waiting for us at the end of the path.

Above, from this spot, often the Pelicans, Snowy Egrets, and Dolphins put on a show as they hunt for fish.  Below is the view of the Gulf of Mexico with its emerald waters.

Below a PEDAL kayaker enjoying -hands-free - the soft breezes of the ocean.  We dream of owning two of these pedal kayaks.  We could really use them both in the winter in Florida and in the summer in crystal clear  Grand Traverse Bay and surrounding lakes.

some days, the beach can feel almost like it is our own.

This is a view of the beach too the right of our spot.  It faces the southern Gulf of Mexico.

Another look at this beautiful white sand beach.  Below, just a short distance and behind from where we sit and enjoy, is the old Sanibel lighthouse.

Teri stands in front of Sanibel Light House.  

The light is a historic relic of a bygone era - no longer really needed in the age of GPS.

Beyond these boats you can see Ft. Myers Beach.  

The path below goes between the beach and the rest rooms and the beach and the parking lots.

This is one of the beaches along the beginning and by the end of the causeway bridge linking Sanibel Island to Fort Myers Beach.  The tall arching bridge behind the pines at the right is at the Fort Myers Beach end of the causeway.  The white buildings are Shell Point a very nice retirement community.

BIKE TO LUNCH AT MAMA DOTS WITH THE HARTLEYS

Here are our friends Bill and Darlene with Teri by our parked bikes in Sanibel Island Harbor.  It was a great day for biking.

This is one of our favorite things to do . . . riding our bikes on Sanibel Island with good friends.  

We walked the beach for a bit , and then on to Mama Dots for lunch.  Mama Dots is a popular restaurant at water's edge in Sanibel Harbor.  The atmosphere is that of an old-style Florida cottage.  Every time we have gone there for lunch there is a long line at the door and waiting times up to an hour.

STREET PARTY AT GWRVR

This was one several potlucks we usually have each season at our winter home.

Everyone brings a dish to share - and we do have great cooks at Gulf Waters!  This potluck was outdoors at a block party with great music, dancing, and singing to make it a perfect event.

Teri is talking to our friend Diana.  Diana was kind enough to look after our cat, Wubie, when we were away for a short while.
