CHINESE GARDEN - PORTLAND, OREGON

The archway at the entrance to Chinatown. (click on any photo to enlarge it)

The Classical Chinese Garden of Portland - Winding walkways, a bridged lake, and open pavillons frame this exquisitely arranged landscape of plants, water, stone, architecture, and poetry. These five elements are essential to the Ming stlye urban garden from Portlands sister city Suzhou.

Entrance to the Chinese Garden - The centuries-old design embodies the Chinese concepts of harmony and tranquility, of capturing the infinite wonders of the univers within a
limited urban space.

Lotus flowers in the background and lilies in the foreground.

On this side of the wood screens are poems in pictures and on the other side are written poems.
