HORSESHOE BEND - IDAHO

In the small town of Horseshoe Bend about 30 minutes from Boise was the setting of the annual Banjo Contest with contestant mostly from the area. There was an adult group and an under 18 year old group--both played exceptionally well. Families attended in this park-like setting--grandparents, parents, and children--setting out their picnic baskets, chairs and blankets or getting a bite to eat from the food booths. A few craft booths of items made locally were available. Where is the apple pie in this all-American setting.

The road back to Boise is mountainous, forrested, rocky, and even barren. Horseshoe Bend is at 2,000 feet higher elevation than Boise.
