As we drive our golf cart South along the West side of the island we find beautiful resort spots on the calm waters away from the ocean.

As we turn towards the ocean side the coast becomes a cliff into reef formations. Long waves crash ashore.

We find a vendor stand selling jewlry and the fellow tells us (in Spanish) that this is his mothers handmade jewlry he is selling. We bought a lovely necklace, and meet his pet parrot Roco.

Roco is delighted to meet us - he really likes to ride on our fingers and get away from his perch. He is quite talkative.

This is a shed where just a few minutes earlier there was a Mexican military squad looking for smugglers bringing Cubans into Mexico.

It is a dangerous 120 mile (or more) crossing from the Southern coast of Cuba.
