ISLA AGUADA BEACH AND TOWN - UNIVERSITY OF CARMEN

Here is our first view out to Laguna de Terminos from our campground. This is salt water from the Gulf of Mexico, and the large body of protected water is usually very calm.

Teri and I went exploring away from the Campground and found a group of fishermen tending their boats and nets. They were making fishing forays it seem every few hours.
We had to park under large Australian pines and had no chance of getting our transmitted beam out to space through them. Here Teri is trying to pick-up a WiFi signal from one of the other coaches with Datastorm satellite internet systems. There were three of us who offered to share our internet signal with the Caravan.

The fishing boat is leaving the beach as Carnival revelers were having some pre-Carnival fun on the beach with their stretched VW Bug. Some members of the caravan rented several local motorcycle taxis to get a tour of the town.
This is one of two variations, sometimes the driver had a roof provided by the trailer, and others had separate roofs for the driver and the trailer.
This little bugger was cozier than the open motorcycles.

As is common throughout the parts of Mexico we have visited to date many dogs and fewer cats were roaming lose in the streets, and many looked emaciated. These are in better shape than most that we saw.

One very interesting experience in Isla Aguada was to listen to the local FM radio station from the Universidad Autonoma del Carmen in Ciudad del Carmen nearby.

The radio station had great music and informative programming - in Spanish, of course.
Here is the current program from its web site.

Each morning while I shave I listen to the "Lobito Feroz" program for children and it is fascinating because it teaches civics, socialization, and success attitudes by inserting the lessons in parables and little stories.
